getting there

It is Roy Liechtenstein arriving in heaven where you ring a bell marked “Petrus”. Roy Liechtenstein is one of those US designers who sold cartoons as office wall decor.

The drawings are by Raphael Wünsch for Hinternet.
.

diogenes in his tube

¿ ¿ ? ? ? … It is of unknown origin, one day found on Google, never to be found again. The caption was :

And this is Jenkins, our duck.

Es Jenkins, nuestro pato.

Chuck Jones’ horse in his Wagner parody “What’s opera, doc?”

The rabbit is trying to be Brunhilde, the horse is truly operatic and some viewer once said it was too fat.

big fish eat

Bruegel : Big fish eat small fish.

Pez grande se come pez chiquito.

He is famous for his Triumph of Death or Winter landscape with a bird trap. They are picture stories, not yet really cartoons.

noahs ark

It almost has to be Noah’s ark drawn by a child originally at this location but no longer on display.

Ivan Anchuokov‘s chicken is being told to go and complain elsewhere. The chicken looks interrogative. Lots of authority in the way he holds his spoon.

Some of these more recent cartoons are pessimistic.

What about the next one ?

It is “The web of Life” spun by that spider of death that sits at the bottom right hand corner.

Chris Madden.

In answer to an artist who wanted me to remove her drawings or pay US$ 50,–:

Compare this to the the total hits reaching this blog:

Most of the hits are produced by the  job search papers.

Before I had this post (“Great Cartoons”) on my other blog, where most things  accumulate several hundred hits over time (= not when first published). However, “Great Cartoons” was  equally unsuccessful there.

In other words, I did remove your drawings, and nobody will miss them.

From an old Assimil Teach yourself Spanish book:

He signs Gring. I am not sure he is still around. I have quite a few of these Assimil books, but all bought second hand at the Madrid book fair, and they are 50 or more years old:

Maybe I ought to explain that this police man is a member of the Spanish Guardia Civil. They used to be known for malevolent or even aggressive behaviour.

Firma “Gring”. No sé si vive todavía.

On “Shoptalk” this post has been online for less than 3 months.
In this time it has received 4 hits …..including the 2 hits produced by your visit ! :-)

You see how easy it is for me to remove your artwork.

I made a screen shot of the WordPress stats for this post (“Great Cartoons”) that shows the four hits.
